Why Preventive Dentistry Matters?
Preventive care is the foundation of lifelong oral health. With the right habits and regular checkups, you can avoid or minimize:
🦷 Cavities (tooth decay)
🦷 Gingivitis (early gum disease)
🦷 Enamel erosion
🦷 Periodontitis (advanced gum disease)
✨ Benefits of Staying Proactive ✨
Cost-effective
Avoid expensive treatments by catching problems early
Better quality of life
Healthy teeth make eating, speaking, and smiling easier
Early detection
Get ahead of oral health issues before they cause damage
✅ Healthy Teeth VS. ❌ Unhealthy Teeth
Prevents issues before they start
Expensive treatments like fillings, root canals, gum disease therapy, or implants
Treats damage after it occurs – often more complex and painful
🌟 Quality of Life
Enjoy hot or cold food without sensitivity
Speak clearly and confidently
Pain or discomfort when eating or drinking
Difficulty chewing, biting, or speaking properly
Prevention is better — and more cost-effective — than the cure.
Maintaining healthy teeth helps you avoid pain, save money, and live more confidently every day.
Our preventative services include:
-
Hygiene - Proper oral hygiene is the key to healthy mouths and plays a role in preventing the need for restorative dental work. Twice yearly professional cleanings, as well as daily flossing and brushing, are all part of a good hygiene regime.
-
Gingivitis and Periodontist - A build-up of plaque bacteria can lead to an irritation of the gum tissue and result in gingivitis, more commonly known as gum disease. With professional removal of the tartar build-up and proper maintenance of oral hygiene, the symptoms of gingivitis can be reversed and the gum tissue can become healthy again. However, there are cases where the bacteria penetrates into the bone surrounding the teeth, which is known as periodontitis. This is an advanced gum disease where the symptoms cannot be reversed and teeth have to be extracted.
-
Dental Sealants - The surface of our back teeth which we use to chew our food consists of deep grooves that are often very difficult to clean, making teeth susceptible to tooth decay. Sealants are plastic materials used to fill in the deep grooves of the teeth. Sealants can be used on the primary teeth of children to protect their teeth from decay, as well as permanent teeth on adults that have deeper pits and grooves, which may be susceptible to decay. The treatment only takes a few minutes and the sealant is usually white in colour, similar to the colour of teeth.
-
Oral Cancer Detection – Oral cancer is a disease that results from abnormal cell growth in the oral cavity, lips, tongue or throat that can manifest in various ways. Early detection of oral cancer is key to successful treatment and a good prognosis. Our team of dental professionals are skilled and trained in detecting the early signs of oral cancer and can help you understand your risks. It is recommended that a dental exam is done by a dentist at least twice a year along with professional dental cleanings.
-
Digital X-Rays - Digital radiographs are used to help our dental professionals diagnose and treat conditions in the mouth. Digital radiography ensures that our patients are exposed to a reduced about of radiation and allow for more efficiency in the practice.
