Dr. Albert Tung is an experienced dental surgeon with almost 30 years of experience.  He graduated with his D.D.S degree from the University of Alberta in 1988. 

 

He is a passionate, life-long learner and brings the most updated procedures and equipment to his patients. While Dr. Tung embraces new technology, he ensures that anything new used in his practice is proven and has been in market for a few years. He has taken comprehensive courses in orthodontics, periodontal surgeries, implants, all-on-4 denture and implant combination, sinus lifts, protein rich fibrin fabrication, bone grafting, immediate implant placement, bone expansion and splitting, TMD, Zygoma dental implants and full mouth reconstruction. 

 

One of Dr. Tung’s area of focus is dental implants, which he has been doing for about 10 years. In 2015, Dr. Tung received the ICOI Fellowship and Mastership credentials. Dr. Tung loves doing surgical procedures from complicated wisdom teeth extractions, various periodontal surgeries to various multiple implant and bone grafting procedures. He has done many implants supported prosthesis from titanium Doldar bar, Locator to full arch bridge work.

 

Dr. Tung's dental implant skills are often rated by patients as less painful than the original extraction. With the reduction in patient discomfort when placing dental implants and meticulous attention to detail, he has a reputation  that has built  his patient base in Calgary and beyond. Dr. Tung was profiled by a major newspaper (Apple) columnist, Wai Yin Ko, from Hong Kong on the success of the implant he placed for her. She could not find a dentist to help her in Hong Kong after visiting three dentists. 

 

Bicon, a large implant supplier from Boston has recommended Dr. Tung to patients who are seeking a skilled clinician in the three Prairie Provinces of Canada.  Implants are a very large investment for a patient so finding someone who is willing to help and is highly educated is extremely important to people.

 

Even though Dr. Tung has great connection with his patients, there are times that patients need sedation.  He has studied and gained all four levels of sedation privileges to provide his patients with a comprehensive approach in his treatment.  He can use oral, nitrous, oral nitrous combination and IV sedation with two drugs to help the anxious patients. 

 

Dr. Tung also has special privileges to a general anesthetic surgical suite facility with Alberta Health Services. At the surgical suite, he is able to perform many dental procedures under general anesthetics for the severe anxious adults and behavioural young patients. 

 

Besides his passion for dentistry, Dr. Tung also gives back to the community for many years by volunteering his professional time and skills to The Alex Bus Community Health and Calgary Urban Project Society where he provides no-cost dental care to low-income families and youth in need. He has helped out in providing dental care for the newly arrived Syrian refugees and served on many committees with the provincial health care and Alberta Health Services. Dr. Tung also initiated the Class 88 Leadership Award for the University of Alberta School of Dentistry students. Every year he presents five awards to students demonstrating exceptional giving spirit to the community.
